Triathlon Smoothie

TROPICAL FRUIT SMOOTHIE
8 ounces fresh galia or cantloupe melon
8 ounces mango
1 banana
125 ml plain yogurt
4 ounces ice cubes
230ml  Exotic fruit juice (guava, passion fruit etc)
Place in blender and blend until smooth.  Serve immediately for the best taste.  Serves two.

RASPBERRY PEACH SURPRISE
8 ounces low-fat raspberry yogurt
150ml summer fruits juice drink
4 ounces fresh raspberries, frozen
12 ounces fresh, frozen
Combine yogurt and summer fruits drink in a blender – be brave it won’t look good. Add peaches and raspberries. Blend until smooth.  Keep being brave coz it still won’t look good but it tastes amazing.

INSTANT PEANUT SMOOTHIE
250 – 375ml smi-skimmed milk
1 packet of Carnation Instant Breakfast, preferably chocolate
1 spoonful of peanut butter (preferably smooth as you don’t want bits in this)
1 frozen banana
About 3 ice cubes
Pour milk into blender, start with 250ml. Add remaining ingredients. Put the blender on blend till Banana and ice are chopped up then whip it for about 5 seconds. Add more milk if needed.  It’s fast and delicious but beware the calories – you know what Instant Breakfasts are for!

APPLE GINGER AND LEMON QUENCHER
500ml apple juice (cloudy not clear)
250ml fresh lemonade (not the fizzy stuff, the cloudy stuff that’s really sharp)
Juice from 1 thumb of root ginger
200ml non-fat plain yogurt
1 banana
Put all ingredients into blender. Blend until smoothie consistency is reached.  Taste and if you’re brave add more ginger.

TROPICAL RASPBERRY  SMOOTHIE
8 ounces fresh passion fruit juice
8 ounces fresh peaches
6 ounces fresh raspberries
6 ounces fresh mango
Pour passion fruit juice into blender first.  Add all fruit, put the cover on and blend until creamy smooth and blend until smooth.

HONEY MELON SMOOTHIE
8 ounces cantaloupe or galia
250ml cold skimmed milk
250ml plain low fat yogurt
2 tablespoons honey
1 banana
1/4 teaspoons vanilla essence
6-8 crushed ice cubes
Place the melon and half of the milk in the blender. Blend on high for one minute until smooth. Add remaining milk, yogurt, honey, banana and vanilla. Blend for another minute. Add crushed ice cubes. Blend slowly until smooth and creamy.  Drink immediately.

LEMON LIME AND WATERMELON SMOOTHIE
12 ounces seeded watermelon, diced
4 ounces lemon sorbet
4 ounces lime sorbet
8-10 ice cubes
Juice of half lemon
Juice of half lime
Place all ingredients except for lemon and lime juice in the blender. Blend until smooth. Taste and add fresh lime and lemon juice to taste.  If you’ve finished training and are thinking of celebrating a good shot of vodka turns this into something really special.

OATMEAL FRUIT SMOOTHIE
1 cup full cream milk
4 ounces of rolled oats
1 banana, broken into chunks
14 frozen raspberries or blackberries
1/2 teaspoons vanilla essence (the stuff with beans in if you’ve got it, it tastes MUCH better)
1-1/2 teaspoons black treacle (brown sugar if you’ve not got it, the darker the better)
In a blender, combine the milk, oats, banana and berries. Blend until smooth then add the vanilla and treacle if desired. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.

NECTARINE SMOOTHIE
1 nectarine
200ml diet vanilla yogurt
125 ml exotic fruit juice (guava, passion fruit or mango)
125ml diet lemonade
2 teaspoons sugar if equal is not available
Put all ingredients into blender. Blend until smoothie consistency is reached!
